eSignature API for Lease Agreements

Generate lease documents from property and tenant data and collect legally binding signatures from all parties — automatically, at scale.

Lease signing is manual and slow

Property managers and real estate platforms often handle hundreds of lease renewals, new tenancies, and addendums simultaneously. Preparing individual lease documents, collecting wet signatures, and managing the paper trail manually is time-consuming, error-prone, and hard to audit.

Lease generated and signed in one workflow

When a tenant application is approved, trigger eSignature API with the property address, tenant details, lease terms, and rent amount. The API generates the lease PDF from your template, sends it to all parties in the correct signing order, and stores the completed signed copy when all parties have signed.

How to automate lease signing

Build your lease template

Design your standard lease template with all required clauses and variable fields — tenant names, property address, lease start and end dates, monthly rent, deposit amount, and any jurisdiction-specific terms.

Trigger from your property management system

When a tenancy is confirmed, call the API via Zapier, Make, or REST. Pass tenant and property data — the lease is generated pre-filled and sent for signing to all parties in the correct order.

All parties sign, lease is filed

Tenants sign first, then the landlord or property manager countersigns. When complete, you receive a webhook. Archive the signed lease in your property management system automatically.

Common lease signing workflows

New tenancies

When a tenant application is approved in your property management system, generate the lease agreement and send to the tenant for signing immediately.

Lease renewals

At renewal time, generate an updated lease with new terms and send to the existing tenant for signature — triggered automatically 60 or 90 days before expiry.

Multi-tenant properties

Send a single lease to multiple tenants simultaneously using parallel signing — each tenant signs their own copy.

Landlord countersignature

Configure sequential signing so the tenant signs first, then the lease routes to the landlord or property manager for countersignature.

Addendums and amendments

Generate and send lease addendums for signing when terms change — pet policies, parking arrangements, or rent adjustments.

Common questions

Can multiple tenants sign the same lease?
Yes. Set up parallel signing with all tenants as signers — each receives the document simultaneously and signs independently. The lease is complete when all tenants have signed.
Can the landlord countersign after the tenant?
Yes. Use sequential signing — tenant signs first (order 1), then the landlord or property manager countersigns (order 2). The lease routes automatically when the tenant completes.
Are electronically signed leases legally valid?
Yes, in most jurisdictions. Lease agreements are standard commercial contracts and are legally enforceable when signed electronically under ESIGN Act, UETA, and eIDAS for most residential and commercial tenancies. Some jurisdictions have specific requirements for residential leases — verify local requirements before deploying.
Can I handle high volumes of lease renewals at once?
Yes. Use the API to trigger lease generation for multiple tenancies programmatically — process renewals in bulk via your property management system integration rather than one at a time.
